Today in the news section the announcement was made that an Add-on for 1701 has been in the works for some time now and will hopefully be released in Q3 of 2007! What are your thoughts on this?

I am very excited and looking forward to the release of the Add-on!
 Q3? July, August, September! Surely they would not release the Add-on while we are involved with the Anno Community Party!

So I guess that means no more patches for 1701, unless you consider the addon a patch.

Never can tell, you could be onto something there! Well, we are going to release the Add-on in a few months, no need to release another patch before then. You think they would do that? Maybe.

Only one thought, will it be US?

-sigh- I can't believe I fell for this again with Sunflowers... :protest: No announcement to fix the game to run as expected on faster graphics cards...

Just hope this time the addon will work with international versions too, last time (Anno 1503) I had to buy the english version to be able to play the addon as it wouldn't work with my Spanish Anno 1503........

I hope it's gonna have more missions than the base game and it's not gonna take off any features of "Anno 1701" that many complained about, like rats, small islands or terrain difficulty. I like Anno 1701 just as it is and I hope for something more not anything less from the add-on.

I surely hope there will be a map editor so the talented folks here can design some new maps/scenarios. I've hit a wall with this game. Can't wait for the addy. :hello:

I just want to see a grid to help with building placement.

There was a grid in 1701 (in the test versions). But it was removed before release...

I second Canadian 1701 request :go: , a grid would really help - specially because the terrain is full of trees and other features which tend to mess up visual placement

I'll put in my 2 cents for a pause when in the trade route screen. And *only* there. That's enough. I don't need or want to see a pause available anywhere else, but the ability to stop the action completely to figure out my trade routing would, I believe, add to the enjoyment of the game. A 'refuge from the storm' so to speak...

Guess there is no chance of this making it to Australia?

When is the main game going to retail in Australia??

Geez, I hope they don't require you to buy an expansion to patch. Firaxis did that with AC and a number of ppl refused to (ahem) co-operate

IMNSHO, producing an expansion pack does not relieve the company from the moral liability of fixing a broke product that has already been paid for. Please keep fixes and new features separate. Or more precisely, provide a stand alone patch that fixes the problems addressed in the expansion pack.

Well said, but most likely won't happen.

Yea I wont be getting any add-ons until I hear its playable on my comp, maybe after I get a new comp ill take a look again, but my cpu, memory and graphics card surpass the recommended specs and performs horribly later in the game. I dunno if its the game or the vid drivers but neither companies seem to want to make an effort to fix the issue and nvidia is too busy with vista to release any new drivers for XP in like 4 months or more.
